NZ Boat Sales has just expanded across the Tasman Sea

Nelson based NZ Boat Sales has just expanded across the Tasman Sea, joining forces with Multihull Central, Sydney to cooperatively promote and service customers with a true alternative to buying and selling multihulls in the region and extensive range of world class sailing and power catamarans and trimarans.

With the largest selection of pre-owned multihulls located in Australia, plus representing new including Outremer catamarans, Seawind catamarans, Corsair trimarans and Aquila power catamarans, Multihull Central offer over 85 catamarans and trimarans for sale from 19 feet to over 70 feet, from day racing boats such as the Corsair Pulse trimaran, to world cruising performance catamarans such as Outremer catamarans.

Multihull Central, who was awarded Outremer International Dealer of the Year earlier in 2015, have grown rapidly in the past couple of years, having merged with long established Multihull Yacht Sales Australia based in Brisbane, and offering Australia’s only dedicated multihull marina in Sydney plus sales agents located in Airlie Beach, Melbourne and Perth. By joining forces with NZ Boat Sales, customers considering buying a catamaran or trimaran can now enjoy on the ground service, and decades of sales and boating experience in the New Zealand market.

Multihull Central’s Managing Director Brent Vaughan explains the move, “I think there is great potential for growth of multihulls in New Zealand, as more and more blue water cruiser’s start to appreciate the benefits of catamarans for cruising around the Pacific,” Brent says, “Steve and the team at NZ Boat Sales are a very experienced group and we have a great opportunity to offer real advice and service to help our customers find the boats in region that best suit them.”

Steve Thomas of NZ Boat Sales is a second generation boat broker having recently taken over his father’s Nelson based brokerage business after twenty years building it to a highly reputable sales firm. They have offices in Nelson, Picton and capital city, Wellington, in addition to sales representation in Auckland with partners Gulf Group Marine Brokers.

Steve comments, “We are very excited to be working with Multihull Central in New Zealand as we share a lot of the same values around providing value rather than a hard sell for our customers.” Steve says, “I feel we now have the best range of multihulls for our region of the world and are looking forward to introducing more people to these exciting boats.”

Also joining the team is experienced multihull sailor, Mark Mellsop-Melssen who has sailed from Europe to New Zealand onboard his Outremer 49 catamaran, “LUCIA”. Mark will be a roving salesman for Multihull Central NZ and will be taking customers sailing around New Zealand. Mark will be based in the North Island over the summer period exploring the local region with opportunities for customers to get onboard his Outremer 49. He plans to sail back into Port Nelson early February 2016.
