NPI Chamber of Commerce Business Awards Launch

Nelson Pine Industries Chamber of Commerce Business AwardsThe entry process for our annual business awards is changing so its more achievable for any businesses to enter.

This year’s Business Awards will be launched at Hop Federation in Riwaka on March 22. The chamber will also be welcoming Nelson Pine Industries onboard as its  naming right sponsor at this event.

“Nelson Pine Industries managing director Murray Sturgeon has been an avid supporter of the chamber for many years,” chamber chief executive Dot Kettle says. “We are very grateful for his company’s sponsorship of our flagship event and look forward to having him speak at our Business Awards launch.”

The 2016 Nelson Pine Industries Chamber of Commerce Business Awards will be held on Friday, November 4. This year there will be a two-stage process for entering the awards, beginning with entry registrations which can be submitted via a link on this website which will go live on March 22.

“The registration will be very simple – people will just need to tell us what their business does and what makes it special. Anyone can enter the awards – they don’t have to be chamber members – and it doesn’t cost to enter.’’

Entry registration closes on June 30, with entrants able to start on stage 2 of the entry process in order to complete the full entry by the deadline of September 23. The chamber has engaged one of last year’s awards winners, Louise Walsh from Nelson Tree Specialists, to promote, encourage and assist entrants with the process.

“As a business owner who has been through the previous entry process, Louise is well placed to work with prospective entrants and the chamber to ensure these awards are accessible, robust and a true celebration of our region’s vibrant business community. We are delighted to have her in this role.”

The Business Award’s launch will also double as one of the chamber’s Chapman Employment Relations Business After Five functions. The hosts, Hop Federation, won the Nelson Mail Start-Up business category in last year’s awards.

“Owners Simon and Nicki Nicholas are a great example of the fresh business talent that we have in this region. They have a wonderful story to tell about quitting high pressure jobs in Auckland to follow their passion and create a better life for their family. Their success is inspiring.

“I strongly encourage anyone who is thinking of entering to attend the event at Hop Federation on March 22 so they can meet other like-minded business owners and hear first-hand what the process involves.”
