2016 NPI Chamber of Commerce Business Award Winners

“Another brilliant evening” is how outgoing Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce CEO Dot Kettle described the Nelson Pine Industries Chamber Business Awards night for 2016.

In her welcome to the sell out capacity crowd of 390 business leaders and entreprenuers, Dot said the region is “an amazing place to do business in and from.  It’s a region bursting full of talented, passionate, generous people”.

Dot paid tribute to the entrants, judges and sponsors and thanked “the people behind the brands and businesses that are exceptional and an ongoing source of inspiration”.

The judges said Mytax.co.nz is a business that could operate from anywhere.  For that reason the Judges would like to congratulate Lester and his team for choosing to operate it from Nelson.

Mytax.co.nz is a game changer in its sector.  It has consistently demonstrated a strong and ever increasing market share and has exciting potential for global success.

The Judges unanimously agreed this business model has been well thought out and the foundations are solid.  The investment in technology has been significant and it is well positioned to go from strength to strength.

A remarkable and revolutionary business with its customers spread across New Zealand yet all conducted from offices in Nelson’s CBD.

The Judges commend MyTax.co.nz for its presentation and its aptitude.

The judges said Trans Tasman Industries produces a unique product which has been designed and engineered here in Nelson and delivered to the world.

The Judges were inspired by Bruce who took his boyhood passion of engines, wheels and all things mechanical and created a gearbox which is sought after worldwide.  The sequential gearbox market has much to thank Bruce and his team for.

The Judges were unanimously surprised by how excited they were to read about a tax refund organisation.  The fact the Judges found the business captivating is in large part down to its beautiful simplicity.  The presentation was flawless.

The judges said the Hospice has a very special and unique relationship with its patients.  Every aspect of the business is designed to enhance the wellbeing of the patient and the patient’s family.  The Judges were particularly impressed with the Hospice philosophy of – is it a place to die, or an opportunity to make the most of the life we have left.  The Hospice aspires for it to be the latter.
